Jewelry Care

Miao silver gives a piece its structure; textile holds its delicate detail. Handle your Olsevi jewelry with care when wearing, cleaning, storing and travelling.

The embroidery guidance below applies to pieces containing embroidery. Follow the guidance for the materials in your own piece; contact us before treating batik, brocade or any other textile.

Wearing
  • Put jewelry on after makeup, perfume, skincare and sunscreen. Remove it first when you return home.
  • Keep it away from water, perfume, cosmetics, lotions, hairspray, alcohol, solvents and household chemicals.
  • Remove jewelry before exercise, bathing, swimming, saunas, household work and sleep.
  • Avoid rough surfaces, sharp objects, zips and knitwear that may catch threads or scratch Miao silver.
Daily care
  • After wearing, gently wipe the Miao silver with a clean, soft, dry cloth.
  • On embroidered areas, lift dust gently with a clean, soft brush, such as a makeup brush. Do not rub repeatedly or pull loose threads.
  • Do not soak, wash, machine-wash, bleach, wring, iron or use an ultrasonic cleaner.
  • Do not use toothpaste, baking soda, silver dip or cleaning solutions, alcohol, solvents or abrasive cloths.
  • An antique finish is intended to retain subtle surface character. Avoid vigorous polishing or repeated use of polishing cloths, which may change that finish.
  • For persistent stains, loose threads or distortion in embroidery, seek professional care rather than attempting treatment yourself.
Storage
  • Store each Olsevi piece separately in a cool, dry place, away from light.
  • Use a soft pouch or a compartmented jewelry box to prevent rubbing, tangling and pressure.
  • Do not iron or fold embroidered components; keep their original shape.
  • In humid environments, a desiccant may be placed nearby, without touching the jewelry.
  • Avoid direct sunlight and high temperatures.
Regular checks
  • Check connections, ear posts or hooks, fastenings and embroidered edges regularly.
  • If you notice looseness, fraying, distortion or snagging, stop wearing the piece and seek professional repair.
  • Do not pull or cut embroidery threads yourself.
Travel
  • Pack each piece separately in a soft pouch or protective rigid case, keeping pressure, friction and snagging to a minimum.
